A genre is a "kind" or "sort" or criteria for the categorisation of things. Genres are often loose categories which can often cross over and overlap with other genres. The usage of the word "genre" is often confined to the arts but has history in other conventions. Art Genres includes all the genres, sub-genres and artistic subects within the visual arts, performing arts, language arts, culinary arts, fine art and others styles and art types. There are now literally hundreds of genres in art (see our sub-channels within Art Genres on the left) that include many well known, and not so well known forms including the more obscure Street Art, Autistic Art, Outsider Art and Child Art.
