Social Networks that Support Causes
Looking for the top ethical social networks that focus on supporting good causes and social needs?.. Look no further. Budiz.com lists all the best social networks that help causes - this includes giving sites where you can donate oe make donations to poverty stricken people (or organisarions) like TearFund, JustGiving and many others. It has become apparent with the recent global economic downtuen and credit crunch that the way forward is for companies and organizations to be less self serving and more focussed on people that cant or are unable to help themselves.
This is a list of websites for site that help people and serve causes, support disasters and general organisations on the web that are charity bases rather than self interest based. Its the difference between MySpace and JustGiving - in any case - why cant these huge corporations donate some of their massive wealth and earnings to causes and people who are poverty stricken?.. its about time the 'gap in the market' for ethical social networks was filled by someone or some company that really cares!

"Welcome! I started Care2, back in 1998, to help make the world a better place. The idea is simple: Make it easy for everyone to live a healthy, green lifestyle and impact the causes they care about most. The seeds for Care2 were planted many years ago. I was 13 years old, traveling up the Amazon with my father in a thatch-covered boat. My father, an ornithologist, studied the birds, while I marveled at the rich wildlife, lush vegetation and fascinating people we encountered deep in the jungle. What struck me most was the contrast between the remote tribes that lived in harmony with the rainforest, and the poverty, sickness and deforestation in the most “modernized” towns we visited. I realized the world was getting terribly out of balance. From that truth, an overwhelming desire to make a difference was born. I realized that the power to make a positive change in the world was within each of us. But how do we harness that power? The answer came in 1998. The Internet. Finally, the power to mobilize the world was at hand. I raised money from some kind and crazy souls, and then really lucked out in finding two extraordinary partners — Matt McGlynn (now our chief technology officer) and Camilla Eriksson (now our vice president of e-cards). In September 1998, we launched Care2 from my tiny apartment. Care2 provides powerful tools to make a difference in your life, community, country and world. It’s driven by passionate people (just like you) who want to restore the world’s balance. Care2 grew out of my apartment a long time ago. Today, more than 50 employees, 9 million members, 400 nonprofit partners and hundreds of responsible advertisers contribute to making powerful, positive changes in our world. Thank you for caring! President and CEO, Care2"
Mission
The mission of JUST CAUSE is to shine a bright light on individuals, corporations and the change agents who are working for the greater good. To inspire people to get involved, to reveal and help people understand the relationship between charity and community, to educate people about how to MAKE A DIFFERENCE and impassion them to TAKE ACTION; to give them a technology platform to enable that action.
Products
JUST CAUSE is an integrated media property – including a national print magazine, an interactive online community site, and community events - that takes an in-depth look at what it means to be part of an engaged community. Our stories will serve as a how-to guide for engaged citizenship, while building an online network that will connect community to causes on an international, national and local level.
JustCauseIt.com
Our online presence will provide expanded coverage from each of our stories, as well as provide directories and calendars and interactive blog sites for individuals, organizations and corporate CSR. This vibrant social network will enable many voices to be heard, and facilitate civic engagement on a local and granular level – while still linking people across the country around common causes.
Just Cause Magazine
From coast to coast, the national and international stories will be the same in every print magazine. This includes articles covering charitable causes, charitable organizations, volunteer services, fundraisers, and profiles of “doers and givers.”
Events
From neighborhood clean-ups to campaigns for clean water, JUST CAUSE will work with our community members and corporate sponsors to generate support for a wide variety of causes. Talking about stuff online is great, but getting stuff done in the real world is better!
